Expanding parking, building a small gondola and a pedestrian bridge from parking lots over U.S. 6 to the base area, and creating a new on-mountain learning area are among improvements Arapahoe Basin officials are considering, according to a new master development plan submitted to the White River National Forest. The 122-page document had been in the works two years ago, but it was put on hold for seven months after A-Basin’s previous owner, DREAM, announced it was selling the area to Alterra Mountain Company pending U.S. Department of Justice approval. The sale finally closed last November and planning resumed. Ski…

Shopping trips to King Soopers and City Market stores in Colorado and other Kroger-owned supermarkets in other states turned up what the shoppers say were widespread discrepancies between the price on the shelves and what got rung up. As a result, the customers spent more for groceries than they expected at a time when prices for most items remain high and tariff increases have stoked fears of inflation heating up again. Walmart, the nation’s largest grocer, warned Thursday that higher tariffs on imports will raise prices. Members of the union negotiating a new contract with King Soopers shopped at 50 stores…

Better great than never. An exhausted, depleted Nuggets team staring at an uncertain future responded with urgency Thursday night. Desperation is the world’s worst cologne, but it provided a heck of a bump to a former championship team in a 119-107 victory. It was everywhere eyes could see at Ball Arena from Jamal Murray grinding through an illness, Nikola Jokic working through scratches on a double-sleeved right elbow, Julian Strawther shedding his cloak of anonymity, and Aaron Gordon shoving Alex Caruso. Truth is, they did not have a choice. But we have seen so many teams check out in these…

As a Cherry Creek standout in the late 1980s, Johnson-Powe set the state record with a triple jump of 40 feet, 1 inch, and became the first Colorado girl to break the 40-foot mark. By the time Kaeli got to high school, Joni knew her daughter…

Look for the freshest herbs you can find, which can last longer in the fridge and freezer, suggests Nasim Alikhani, the chef of Sofreh in Brooklyn, New York, and author of…

The best-tasting chicken results when you don’t take it too far from itself, when you let the chicken taste like chicken. For that, you might start with the bird, and look to “the chicken whisperer” — more specifically Mike Charles, founder and CEO of LaBelle Patrimoine. Charles grew up around chickens in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and has always been passionate about caring for them. (His family has been in the chicken business since they immigrated from Italy at the start of the 20th century.) In grade school, when other students brought their stuffed animals for show-and-tell, Charles brought in live…

If you’re a parent, you might be in the thick of Maycember, that end-of-spring flurry of activities that requires SEAL-Team-Six-level logistics and planning: school concerts, graduations, sports tournaments, dance recitals, field trips, themed dress-up days, classroom parties, teacher conferences, summer child-care planning. (What am I forgetting? Definitely something I’ll remember at 3 a.m.) I personally love the hustle and bustle of the almost-summer season, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that the idea of cooking dinner every night on top of it all is little overwhelming. My first tip is this: Don’t. Schedule one or two (or three!)…
