Moon Alert: There are no restrictions to shopping or important decisions today. The Moon is in SCORPIO. Happy Birthday for Sunday, May 11, 2025: You are independent and self-disciplined. You’re also innovative, determined and imaginative. This is a year of personal growth, which is why you might take time to renew your spiritual or religious beliefs. You might explore meditation, yoga or martial arts. It’s time to discover what is important to you. ARIES (March 21-April 19) ★★ Unfortunately, people are short-tempered, and today is Mother’s Day. Avoid disputes about shared responsibilities, shared costs and shared possessions. Likewise, avoid disputes…
What keeps us from jailing the innocent and freeing the guilty? A little thing called due process; the government must follow established legal procedures when prosecuting crimes. People are entitled to formal charges, legal representation, the presentation of evidence, a jury trial, and other guarantees. The 5th and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution make it clear no one can be deprived due process, no one. Someone tell President Trump. Earlier this year when he told the press he doesn’t know whether he is required to uphold these constitutional provisions, he wasn’t kidding. Since taking office, he has denied due…
Aaron Gordon didn’t miss after the game, either. “What was it like being the worst player on the floor?” a reporter asked Nikola Jokic following the MVP’s rare off-night Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Gordon, dressing at his locker stall about four feet behind the Joker’s media scrum, suddenly perked up. It was meant to be funny. Cute. Ironic, even. Only AG wasn’t laughing. “He was not the worst player on the floor,” the Nuggets forward said with an incredulous whisper. “What kind of question …” Got a better one. “The name Robert Horry mean anything to you?” I…
For Ian and Dave Sarachan, family time now comes with a final whistle. When Ian got his first MLS assistant coaching job with the Colorado Rapids ahead of the 2024 season, his father, Dave, was finishing up a stint as an assistant in the Israeli Premier League. Dave, a longtime right-hand man of Bruce Arena and former coach of Chris Armas when he played for the Chicago Fire, visited Commerce City a few times after leaving Israel last June. It was mostly for the grandkids, though he enjoyed watching Ian coach, too. There’s a circle of trust between Armas and…
A developer and property owners in the Athmar Park neighborhood have sued the city in an attempt to reverse a council decision last month that blocked their housing project. The Denver City Council voted April 7 not to rezone 627 S. Lipan St. from single-use residential to mixed-use, preventing RedT Homes from building two dozen townhomes there. “We did 20 months of work, met with every council member, did a significant amount of community engagement with the Athmar Park neighborhood. Then, when we get to city council, we are given all of three minutes to present,” said RedT CEO Nathan…
An Aurora police officer suffered minor injuries while chasing a stolen pickup truck when they crashed into an uninvolved woman’s vehicle Friday morning, according to police. The woman was not injured, and the officer was taken to a hospital, Aurora Police Department spokesperson Joe Moylan wrote in an email. More people died in police chases in this Denver suburb than in the state’s biggest cities Police spotted the stolen Ford F-150 Raptor in District 2, which includes parts of north and central Aurora, at about 5:51 a.m., Moylan wrote. When officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, the truck drove…
The Broncos found a rookie minicamp quarterback in a familiar place. Denver’s got former Notre Dame signal caller Ian Book in town for the weekend’s rookie minicamp as a veteran tryout player, a source confirmed Friday morning to The Post. Book, 27, was a fourth-round draft pick of Sean Payton’s in New Orleans in 2021. Book’s bounced around, spending time in New England, Kansas City and Philadelphia. He spent last offseason with the Chiefs before getting waived in August and hooking on with the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia late in the year as mostly a practice squad player. The…
Federal agents captured 18 immigrants facing deportation during their April 27 raid on an unlicensed Colorado Springs nightclub, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. An ICE spokesperson wrote in an email Friday that the agency detained 104 people who were illegally present in the country during the raid, including immigrants from Guatemala, Cuba, El Salvador, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Nicaragua, Chile and Honduras. The Drug Enforcement Administration initially reported 114 had been taken into federal custody. When asked about the discrepancy, the spokesperson wrote that he could only confirm how many people ICE arrested. Among the 104, 18 already had…
By KATIE WORKMAN Cooking for your mom on Mother’s Day is probably the Best Gift Ever for a lot of moms. Sure, we’re delighted to get flowers, or a lovely box of chocolate, or a new power drill, but what we really want is to be taken care of for one single, blessed day. Just kidding, we know you love us. Now cook something to prove it. A chill brunchy breakfast is a great way to go. And, by the way, it doesn’t have to be in bed. In fact, having balanced a toddler, a mug of hot coffee and…
