Ali Farokhmanesh brought Nique Clifford to Fort Collins, then made him a millionaire. When Clifford hit the transfer portal after leaving CU, Farokmanesh, the CSU Rams assistant who’d recruited Nique when the kid was a springy teen out of the Springs, reached out instantly for a second chance. After Nique eventually chose CSU, it was Coach Ali who helped break down No. 10’s jumper and rebuild it from the ground up.“Power in your feet,” Farokhmanesh would remind Clifford at practice. “No swimming.”As a Buff, Nique was a 33.8% shooter on 3s and 60.6% converter of free throws. While the other racers compete in the GS on Tuesday at World Cup finals in Sun Valley, Shiffrin plans to squeeze in some training in the slalom. It will be the American standout’s only event of the weeklong finals after not qualifying in giant slalom. Jose Avila, the chef behind Denver’s La Diabla Pozole y Mezcal, has built a national reputation over the past few years for his rich takes on regional Mexican cuisine, like his five kinds of pozole, birria street tacos, a whole fish on a trompo, mole dishes and even an annual festival de bichos, which elevates humble maguey worms and crickets to Michelin-recommended status. But rather than create fine dining experiences, Avila has made sure his approach is representative of the “real Mexico” – no frills, just great service and food. “I want to see your face here two, three times a…

The Rockies’ opening day, 26-man roster is set after a series of surprising, late decisions. The most significant move came Sunday when manager Bud Black announced that veteran Nick Martini, 34, made the team while outfield prospect Zac Veen did not.
