By ANDREW DALTON, Associated Press LOS ANGELES (AP) — “The Studio” looks like a runaway hit, the innies and outies of “Severance” could solidify a spot among the prestige TV elite, and Noah Wyle could finally have his big awards moment as the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards arrive. Comic Nate Bargatze will be a first-time host Sunday night when the ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles airs on CBS Sunday night. Editor’s note: The opinions of the smart, well-read women in my Denver book club mean a lot, and often determine what the rest of us choose to pile onto our bedside tables. So we asked them, and all Denver Post readers, to share their mini-reviews with you. Have any to offer? Email bellis@denverpost.com. – Barbara Ellis “The Original Daughter,” by Jemimah Weh (Doubleday, 2025) ‘The Original Daughter,’ by Jemimah Weh (Doubleday, 2025) “An existence animated by anger is not the same thing as living a life.” When she is 8, Genevieve suddenly gets a 7-year-old sister, Erin. The girls eventually bond…
The Denver Broncos may have finished their search for a new stadium site, but it’s just the beginning of a long process to make the team’s new home at Burnham Yard a reality. There will be community negotiations. There will be an environmental cleanup. There will be planning and design. And there will be a whole lot of bureaucracy. The city and the team will try to balance the importance of each of those steps with the looming deadline of the expiration of the Broncos’ lease at Empower Field at Mile High at the end of the 2030 season. The…
HOUSTON — Screens won’t save Deion Sanders’ dreams. Georgia Tech left a bruise. Houston left four or five. But come on, folks. Do you really trust CU Buffs freshman quarterback Julian Lewis in the hands of Pat Shurmur? Would you really let Pencil Pat take your Lamborghini out for a test drive while he leaves the parking brake on? One win in three games calls for drastic measures. Not desperate ones. If Coach Prime is going to change quarterbacks again, he needs to change play-callers, too. Give Byron Leftwich a go. Heck, let ChatGPT have a crack. Because in the very…
Residents near Elati Village in Denver’s Golden Triangle say the city ignored repeated calls regarding unauthorized vehicle encampments before an RV fire early Sept. 11. “For weeks, we received no response from these reports. Neighbors cited smoking, drugs, human waste, and other foul smells around these encampments. Neighbors have also reported witnessing Elati Village participants interacting with vehicle encampment residents and delivering items to them, leading up to the fire,” according to a statement issued by the Triangle 22 on Elati Homeowners Association, which represents 22 townhomes from 1323 to 1335 Elati St. Elati Village is a micro-community of 44…
GOLDEN — Joseph Capra fielded the snap at his own 10-yard line, took off on a designed draw play and found a hole as wide as the Front Range. A solid block from his tailback and one diving defender’s miss later, Capra was running free at Marv Kay Stadium for Colorado School of Mines. The 85-yard touchdown scamper was the second-longest rush in program history and the highlight of a comfortable but quirky 41-27 win against Washburn on a long, soggy Saturday. This game started at 12:05 p.m. and ended at 7:40 p.m. because of three separate lightning delays. “Probably…
Rafael Santos is already worth the price of admission. Three games into his Colorado Rapids tenure, the club paying $125,000 in General Allocation Money — less than the going price of an international roster slot — is looking like highway robbery. The left back has three assists in that time span, including one on the opening goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win against the Houston Dynamo at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The assist itself wasn’t spectacular, but it was smart and required careful execution. On a free kick from striking distance, Santos lined up and postured to take it, but instead…
The Rockies’ epic drought ended with a cloudburst of terrific pitching by Tanner Gordon and one of the feel-good moments of the season coming from a most unlikely source. First baseman Blaine Crim, called up from Triple-A Albuquerque before the game, hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning. It was the first homer, indeed the first hit, of his major league career, and it carried the Rockies to a 4-2 win over the Padres Friday night at Petco Park. “For me, that three-run homer felt like a bubble burst, ” Rockies interim manager Warren Schaeffer told reporters in…

Dear Eric: “Bella” and I met more than 35 years ago as volunteers. We maintained a friendship despite totally different life paths: she had a string of relationships that never went very far; I married, became a stepmom, then had a baby. She wasn’t able to maintain a career due to increasing mental health issues that also affected her physical health. She became a recluse for two years. I have deep appreciation for the complexities that mental illness brings. I know that love and compassion are what Bella needs and that they are the basis upon which this friendship has…
