Today is Tuesday, Sept. 16, the 259th day of 2025. There are 106 days left in the year. Today in history: On Sept. 16, 1982, the massacre of more than 1,300 Palestinian men, women and children at the hands of Israeli-allied Christian Phalange militiamen began in west Beirut’s Sabra and Shatila refugee camps. Also on this date: In 1810, Catholic priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla called on his parishioners to join him in a rebellion against Spanish rule, marking the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence. In 1893, the largest land run in U.S. history occurred as more than…

Renck: Courtland Sutton’s stat line is like a Truth Social post by President Trump — all caps. He has seven catches in two games and posted a single reception in Sunday’s loss at Indianapolis. We figured teams would make life more difficult for Sutton after recognizing how dependent Bo Nix became on him last season. That’s where Evan Engram comes in to ease the burden. Well, maybe not. The Broncos have a No. 2 receiver in Troy Franklin, but do they have a No. 1? Should we be concerned about Sutton’s slow start? Keeler: Courtland was held more times against…

By WILL WEISSERT and JONATHAN MATTISE, Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump signed an order Monday sending the National Guard into Memphis to combat crime, offering another major test of the limits of presidential power by using military force in American cities. With Republican Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee visiting the Oval Office, Trump said troops would be deployed and join a special task force in the city comprised of officials from various federal agencies, including the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshal’s service. He said the goal would be to stamp out crime in a way that…

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said the U.S. military on Monday again targeted a boat allegedly carrying drugs from Venezuela, killing three aboard the vessel. “The Strike occurred while these confirmed narcoterrorists from Venezuela were in International Waters transporting illegal narcotics (A DEADLY WEAPON POISONING AMERICANS!) headed to the U.S.,” Trump said in a Truth Social post announcing the strike. “These extremely violent drug trafficking cartels POSE A THREAT to U.S. National Security, Foreign Policy, and vital U.S. Interests.” The strike was carried out nearly two weeks after another military strike on what the Trump administration said was a drug-carrying speedboat from Venezuela that killed…

The FBI in July began investigating social media accounts connected to the 16-year-old who shot two students and then himself at Evergreen High School last week, but did not identify the boy or take any further action before the attack, the agency confirmed Monday. The FBI “opened an assessment into a social media account user whose identity was unknown and who was discussing the planning of a mass shooting with threats non-specific in nature,” the agency said in a statement. “During the assessment investigation, the identity of the account user remained unknown, and thus there was no probable cause for…

At first, when Jonny Bridgewater suggested his two millionaire clients play red light-green light, Troy Franklin and JL Skinner looked at the man like he was insane. Bridgewater, a longtime movement specialist at Kula Sports Performance, is “cool,” Franklin said. But definitely interesting, the Broncos receiver added. The trainer is an enigma, a self-described neuroscientist who spends as much time explaining the brain’s gamma waves as he does the body’s muscle fibers. He identified Franklin’s main issue right away, when they began working together this spring. “He’s always been a cannon,” Bridgewater said. “But I felt like Troy was a…

INDIANAPOLIS — Time to run mental lapses. And extra gassers at the end of practice. Here in Naptown, a poster with Colts players adorns the J.W. Marriott, paying tribute to late team owner Jim Irsay. It reads: For the Boss. For the City. For the Shoe. For the love of God, this ending was stupid. A series of cognitive disconnects, each more costly than the last, resulted in a 29-28 walk-off loss for the Broncos. This wasn’t just a Denver loss; this was the ultimate brain freeze. Like guzzling a 32-ounce Slurpee through a straw in a single drink. Unwisely…
