When Jay Norvell talked about creating Canvas Chaos, this isn’t what he had in mind. The Rams are 1-1, but it feels worse after their escape against Northern Colorado. There are no Secret Santa gifts needed for Norvell at the office Christmas party after an all-time shocking reversal of a touchdown catch by the Bears. And whether it was or wasn’t a reception is not even the biggest issue surrounding the program. Norvell has a quarterback controversy. He called it a competition during the bye week practice. But that is never the case, especially when the three-year starter is losing…
By CHRISTINE FERNANDO and REBECCA SANTANA, Associated Press CHICAGO (AP) — A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer fatally shot a suspect who tried to evade arrest Friday in a Chicago suburb by driving his car at officers and dragging one of them, officials said. The shooting just outside the city follows days of threats by the Trump administration to surge immigration enforcement in Chicago and less than a week into an operation labeled “Midway Blitz” by federal officials targeting the so-called sanctuary policies in Chicago and Illinois. The Department of Homeland Security said in a news release that the…
Annie and Ty Tatro founded Redtail Overland in 2019 to make a better rooftop tent. Six years later, the couple is building $600,000 vans. “It was cool on our SUV, but you still couldn’t stand up. You couldn’t go to the bathroom. You couldn’t cook a meal,” Ty said of the original product. “If it was rainy, it was better than the tent was. But it still left a little bit to be desired.” The attachment, which the couple calls the Skyloft, is a carbon fiber-shelled triangle with windows, insulation, electricity and the like. It was originally a pop-up tent…
Tyler Badie, for the first time in his NFL career, not only made a 53-man roster but had a real role on opening week. The Broncos running back got the nod as Denver’s third man behind J.K. Dobbins and ahead of Jaleel McLaughlin for the first Sunday of the season. The rationale from head coach Sean Payton: Clear. “He’s a guy that can do a number of things well,” Payton said Friday. “We think he can run well. He’s good in the (blitz) pickups. He’s good in the passing game. You know exactly what you’re getting.” Badie’s first outing of…
Broncos ILB Dre Greenlaw active at practice for first time in weeks, but scratched for Colts matchup
On Monday, as uncertainty continued to reign around Dre Greenlaw’s status, Broncos head coach Sean Payton said reporters would see the free-agent linebacker “sooner than later.” “Sooner,” it turns out, was four days. Greenlaw was dressed and active for Friday’s viewing portion of practice open to media members, the first time he’s been seen taking the field since the week of Aug. 18 ahead of the Broncos’ final preseason game. It’s an encouraging sign for Denver, as the organization hasn’t put Greenlaw on short-term injured reserve despite his absence. Still, Greenlaw was predictably designated out for the Broncos’ matchup with…
I was sitting in my congressional office before heading to the House floor for votes when my phone lit up. Charlie Kirk – right-wing activist and podcaster – has been shot in the neck at a rally on a college campus in Utah. The growing political violence we’ve seen recently has been gut-wrenching and terrifying. I’m not only scared for the safety of friends and colleagues but fearful for the future of our country. Then my phone lit up again. I received additional horrifying news: there was, at that very moment, an active shooter at Evergreen High School. I was…
By ERIC TUCKER, ALANNA DURKIN RICHER, JESSE BEDAYN and HANNAH SCHOENBAUM, Associated Press OREM, Utah (AP) — A 22-year-old Utah man who was arrested and booked on murder charges in the assassination of Charlie Kirk held deep disdain for the conservative activist’s provocative viewpoints and indicated to a family member that he was responsible for the shooting, authorities said Friday. The arrest marked a major break in a case that shocked the country and raised fresh alarms about political violence in a deeply polarized United States. Tyler Robinson had become “more political” in the run-up to the shooting and mentioned during a dinner with…

Food and chaos. It’s what Mary Allison Wright remembers of her childhood family reunions near their hometown of Chattanooga, Tenn., with her younger brother, John David Wright. “We would run around with our cousins and cause absolute chaos,” she said. Fast forward to today, and food still dominates the lives of the Wrights. And the chaos? Well, it’s more about managing it, or massaging it, than letting it go unchecked. The siblings, along with Mary’s husband, McLain Hedges, have run a bottle shop, a barbecue pop-up and a bar, Yacht Club, all in Denver. Fresh off a James Beard Award nomination…
