Perhaps the Rockies should order takeout, because their home cooking isn’t very good. The Mets clobbered the Rockies, 8-1, Saturday night at Coors Field in front of 38,279 fans, hitting three leadoff homers off Colorado right-hander German Marquez. New York’s win streak over Colorado grew to seven games. But at the heart of the loss was the Rockies’ continued inability to produce a clutch hit, even in their home ballpark. The Rockies had 10 hits but were 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. They were 1 for 7 with runners in scoring position in their 4-2 loss to…

Aurora police say they’re still searching for one or more shooters who opened fire on a crowd outside of a Colfax Avenue nightclub in August 2024, killing one person and wounding another. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the club in the 11200 block of East Colfax early in the morning of Aug. 11, police wrote in a social media post. When they arrived, they found a man — later identified as Rafael Rivera-Velez, 25 — who had been shot multiple times and died at the scene. A second person was shot and survived. Witnesses told police…

State officials denied a permit for an elephant show at the Colorado Renaissance Festival, according to an animal advocacy group that threatened to sue the state over the issue. Attorneys with the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project, which is based at the University of Denver, threatened to sue Colorado Parks and Wildlife if the agency again issued a permit for the annual elephant show put on by Trunks and Humps. The group claimed the show at the festival in Larkspur violated Colorado law prohibiting elephants and other animals from being used in traveling acts and forced the elephants to perform…

Gov. Jared Polis set a personal record for issuing vetoes in a single legislative session this year — and, potentially, made history as the first Colorado governor to veto a bill that passed the General Assembly unanimously. The 11 vetoed bills touched on a raft of issues: social media regulations, new rules for ride-hailing companies like Uber and Lyft, criminal justice reforms, health care, the Colorado Open Records Act and several more. Some, such as his veto of a bill that would have made it easier for unions to negotiate dues, were telegraphed well ahead of time. Others surprised the bill…

By MICHELLE L. PRICE and BILL BARROW BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (AP) — President Donald Trump is not backing off his battle with Elon Musk, saying Saturday that he has no desire to repair their relationship and warning that his former ally and campaign benefactor could face “serious consequences” if he tries to help Democrats in upcoming elections. Trump told NBC’s Kristen Welker in a phone interview that he has no plans to make up with Musk. Asked specifically if he thought his relationship with the mega-billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX is over, Trump responded, “I would assume so, yeah.” “I’m…

Suncor Energy’s oil refinery in Commerce City exceeded its permitted pollution limits for more than 900 cumulative hours during its three-month shutdown in late 2022 and early 2023, according to a study by an environmental group — and Colorado regulators say they are investigating potential violations during that incident. 350 Colorado, an environmental group that advocates for the elimination of fossil fuels, says in its recently released report that it reviewed Suncor’s self-reported documents connected to the shutdown and determined there was a notable increase in the frequency of permit violations while the refinery was offline. During that time, the…

City Street Investors, the local development firm and restaurant operator, is putting the final touches on its Arvada Beer Garden, set to open early next month. A special emphasis has been placed on the “garden” part of the business. “It’s a million-dollar garden with 850 plants,” said Joe Vostrejs, a co-owner of the firm. “With 44 trees. But who’s counting?” added Rod Wagner, Vostrejs’ business partner. The entire project at 9258 W. 58th Place spans one acre, with a 5,000-square-foot beer garden on one end and a 2,000-square-foot retail building on the other. In between them sits a 14,300-square-foot pocket…

The Post Malone Nuggets rocked, given the context. But does that mean that Michael Malone can’t coach? Hardly. He won more games with the Nuggets over 10 years than anyone in franchise history. He served as the stern father, nurturing the development of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. His abrasive style eventually wore thin — the kids were grown up with kids of their own and no longer needed browbeating and grievances aired in press conferences. But with a fresh start and lessons learned — ditch the paranoia, stay out of office power struggles — there is no better free…

For the Mets — and their rabid fans who made themselves heard at Coors Field Friday night — it was another chapter of a dream season. For the Rockies, it was another hard-fought loss in a season full of defeats. The Mets prevailed, 4-2, on Francisco Lindor’s unlikely, pinch-hit, two-out double off Colorado rookie closer Zach Agnos in the ninth. Mets fans, who made up a good portion of the announced crowd of 34,890, chanted “MVP! MVP!” as Lindor stood on second base. Lindor, who hammered the Rockies during the Mets’ sweep in Queens last weekend, suffered a broken pinky…
