From Aug. 12-20, the Rockies put up a 7-2 record. Maybe there really was light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel. Nope. Turn out the lights. The Rockies were dominated by the Dodgers in Los Angeles again on Tuesday night, losing 7-2. L.A. blasted four home runs, two by Teoscar Hernandez. The Rockies (40-105) have lost 11 of 13 games and 15 of their last 18. They trail the Dodgers by an astronomical 41 games in the National League West. All-Star catcher Hunter Goodman did provide a feel-good moment for Colorado in the ninth. After striking out…

By DAVE COLLINS Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to hear his appeal of the $1.4 billion judgment a Connecticut jury and judge issued against him for calling the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting a hoax staged by crisis actors. The Infowars host is arguing that the judge was wrong to find him liable for defamation and infliction of emotional distress without holding a trial on the merits of allegations lodged by relatives of victims of the shooting, which killed 20 first graders and six educators in Newtown, Connecticut. Judge Barbara Bellis, frustrated at what…

The Rockies have lost a franchise-record 104 games, but who’s counting? Not the players or the manager. At least that’s what they say. They also say that the club’s brush with baseball infamy has not been discussed, at least not as a group. “Zero,” interim manager Warren Schaeffer said on Sunday when asked how many times he talked to his players about the mountain of losses. Added veteran left-hander Kyle Freeland: “This MLB record for losses? Sniffing it and being on pace for it and all of that? For us, it’s out of sight, out of mind.” The Rockies entered…

Are the Denver School Board elections transparent and democratic? Not really. Sadly, the Denver School board campaigns are far less democratic than any other Denver elections with two “dark money” groups providing more than 70% of the funding. We are talking more than $1 million from these two groups in 2023, and expect the number to be even higher this fall. There is no other Denver or even Colorado election with so much soft or “dark” money pouring into an election. Not only is the funding coming from just two 501(c)(4) organizations — the teacher union (Denver Classroom Teacher Associations…

A bear scratched a man walking his dogs Saturday night in central Boulder, according to a Colorado Parks and Wildlife news release. The bear charged at the man, and, as he tried to run away, he tripped over the dogs’ leashes, CPW officials said. The bear then scratched the man across his back. The resident, who was not publicly…
