On a rain-soaked 2016 evening in Kennesaw, Georgia, Eric Law cemented his legacy as one of the greatest scorers in the history of field lacrosse. Law netted five goals in the Major League Lacrosse championship that night, including the game-winner with 12.9 seconds left on a diving, over-the-shoulder shot with two defenders draped all over him. It earned Law MVP honors in the Denver Outlaws’ epic 19-18 comeback win over the Ohio Machine, the second of three MLL titles for the Outlaws that Law played a central role in. Fast forward to this season, and Law remains ready to do…

The Nuggets aced the offseason even with an “incomplete” grade. That’s how good their roster moves were, according to most of us in the business of making such evaluations prematurely. After trading Michael Porter Jr. for Cam Johnson, turning Dario Saric’s contract into Jonas Valanciunas, reuniting with Bruce Brown and signing Tim Hardaway Jr., Denver has been widely labeled one of the biggest winners of the NBA summer, in stark contrast with last year. And that’s despite not filling all 15 roster spots. Executive vice president of basketball operations Ben Tenzer has said he feels no pressure to fill the…

Leanna Jepkes was on her way home on a late summer night last year when she spotted flames on the hillside near where she lives with her husband and two children in the Jefferson County foothills. It was the start of the Quarry fire, a blaze that over the next week would grow to nearly 600 acres. It prompted the evacuation of more than 500 homes in Deer Creek Canyon. Jepkes and her family received their evacuation notice at 2 a.m. — a mere four hours after the fire started. The wildfire would turn out to be Jefferson County’s biggest…

Dear Eric: I’m a 40-year-old single mom of twin 5-year-olds. I’m a professional woman, but due to my commitments to my children and the overall daily grind, I have little to no time for socialization and dating. However, I need occasional help around the house, and my cousin (let’s call her Jen) was kind enough to refer me to her handyman. He’s helped me with several projects over the last year, and I sense a mutual physical attraction. I am aware that my cousin had a sexual relationship with this man at some point long ago, but it was never…

Malcolm Roach is going to miss at least the first four games of the Broncos’ season. That doesn’t come as a big surprise, but it is official after Denver put the defensive tackle on injured reserve Saturday. The team announced the move and several other transactions. Roach sustained a Grade 2 calf strain during Thursday’s practice and had already been ruled out of Sunday’s opener against Tennessee. Dr. Kenton Fibel, a primary care sports medicine specialist at Cedars-Sinai Orthopedics in Los Angeles and the Anaheim Ducks’ team doctor, told The Denver Post earlier this week that the recovery time from…

FORT COLLINS — When Ed Lamb began one of the toughest rebuilding jobs in FCS football, he was sure the solution involved a whole lot of home cooking. Lamb’s plan for Northern Colorado to find more competitive footing in the Big Sky, one of the two power conferences at the FCS level, focused on a heavy dose of in-state high school recruiting. The program hasn’t won more than three games since 2016, and not more than six in any season since joining the Big Sky in 2006. It’s been a slow burn for Lamb with the Bears, but UNC is…

Metro Denver’s housing market, like a ship caught in the doldrums, has no wind in its sails but neither does it find itself under threat. Buyers purchased 3,636 homes and condos last month, 5.8% fewer than the 3,861 purchased in July and 5.6% fewer than the 3,850 that sold in August a year ago. Sellers pulled back more aggressively, with new listings down 12.5% month-over-month and 8.4% year-over-year. That pushed the inventory of active listings at the end of August down 6.7% to 13,059. Despite the monthly decline, active listings remain up 21.8% from August 2024. “As we enter the…
