CLASS 5A No. 8 Grandview (1-1) vs. No. 4 Ralston Valley (1-0) When/where: 7 p.m. Thursday at NAAC Stadium Last meeting: Ralston Valley 10, at Grandview 9, Sept. 5, 2024 Streaming: NFHS Network A week after putting a scare into No. 3 Legend, Grandview takes on another 5A heavyweight. Like last week’s loss to the Titans, Grandview held a fourth-quarter lead vs. RV last year before ultimately dropping a heartbreaker. The Mustangs have won four straight in this series, and senior QB Zeke Andrews (355 total yards, 4 TDs) looked awfully sharp in Week 1 at Erie. No. 5 Mountain…
More than 4 acres of new riverfront parks, plazas and green space are set to open this week at Denargo Market in Denver’s RiNo Art District. Located along the South Platte River, the new public space will include a nature-inspired playground, a dog park, sport courts, fire pit, pop-jet fountain, a half-acre green lawn and improved pedestrian and bike paths connecting to downtown. At the heart of the space will stand Rhingo, a 30-foot-tall, climbable steel rhino sculpture at the corner of 29th Street and Arkins Court, named by the community earlier this summer. Denargo Market is zoned for three million…
One person died Tuesday after a loose tire flew into their car on Interstate 25 in Lone Tree, according to city officials. Lone Tree police officers responded to the crash on I-25, just north of Ridgegate Parkway, at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, city spokesperson Melissa Gallegos said in a statement. A tire came loose from a northbound vehicle and bounced across the median, colliding with a vehicle in the southbound lanes, Gallegos said. The driver on southbound I-25 was killed in the crash, she said. The northbound driver pulled over to the highway’s shoulder and waited until police arrived. Law enforcement…
A man without a medical license in Colorado posed as a plastic surgeon in Lakewood, state officials said on Friday, urging the public to come forward to determine if he had committed other violations. The Colorado Medical Board on Thursday issued a cease-and-desist order to Carlos Hernandez-Fernandez and Bare Beauty Aesthetic Care for acting without the required license to practice medicine in the state of Colorado. A spokesperson with the Board stated that Hernandez-Fernandez, 45, was previously licensed as a surgical assistant in the state, but that license was revoked on Sept. 13, 2016. The board alleged that on or about Aug.…
Southbound Interstate 25 was closed Wednesday morning in downtown Denver as crews worked to clear an early morning crash involving construction equipment, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. As of 10 a.m., southbound I-25 was closed between exit 213 for Park Avenue and exit 212C for 20th Street, according to CDOT. A piece of construction equipment flipped onto its side near the Park Avenue off-ramp, according to reporting from Denver7. The construction contractor is trying to get the equipment back on its wheels to tow it off the highway, CDOT told Denver7. The crash caused more than an hour…
President Donald Trump gave two reasons for why he is stripping Space Command from El Paso County in Colorado and moving the headquarters to Huntsville, Alabama – neither of which was true. First, he said voters in Alabama supported his re-election in 2024 by 47 points. Second, he said that Colorado’s mail-in ballots allow election fraud. The president of the United States held a press conference on a major decision and told Americans that it was based on his political popularity in one state and a gross lie that he has perpetuated since he lost his first bid for re-election…
By STEPHEN GROVES, Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Oversight Committee on Tuesday publicly posted the files it has received from the Justice Department on the sex trafficking investigations into Jeffrey Epstein and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, responding to mounting pressure in Congress to force more disclosure in the case. Still, the files mostly contain information that was already publicly known or available. The folders contained hundreds of image files of years-old court filings related to Epstein and Maxwell. They also included video files appearing to be body cam footage from police searches as well as recordings and summaries of…
Kyle Freeland’s single-game ERA from his latest start will not compute. After facing two batters, surrendering two runs and recording zero outs, Freeland was ejected Tuesday for confronting Giants slugger Rafael Devers during his home-run trot. Devers slowly walked to first base while admiring his towering fly off Freeland. When it landed in the right-field seats at Coors Field, he flipped his bat, a fairly customary home run celebration in modern Major League Baseball. Freeland seemed to take exception to that reaction. The Rockies left-handed pitcher pointed and yelled at Devers, prompting both benches to clear and Devers to leave…
A 37-year-old Black man shot and killed by an Aurora police officer after an attempted traffic stop and crash Saturday night was armed and threw a gun into the grass before confronting the officer, Chief Todd Chamberlain said Tuesday. Rajon Belt-Stubblefield crashed into two vehicles while fleeing an Aurora police officer who was trying to pull him over for speeding and a possible DUI, Chamberlain said at a news conference at Aurora Police Department headquarters. Chamberlain declined to name the officer who shot Belt-Stubblefield, citing the fact that the officer has not yet been interviewed by 18th Judicial District critical…
The plan had not been etched in concrete, Sean Payton emphasized. Yes, Denver’s head coach wanted to get his starters just eight to 10 plays against New Orleans two weeks ago. Yes, he wanted to score quickly and get off the field. Didn’t happen. You know what they say about best-laid plans. It took Bo Nix and the Broncos offense three drives to get chugging, and All-Pro offensive guard Quinn Meinerz thus ended up playing 21 snaps rather than a handful. Meinerz preferred it this way, though, because of the 305-pound task awaiting him in Week 1. “I don’t want…
