When a malfunctioning home appliance changes your life, it’s essential to know where to turn. If that situation sounds implausible, it’s not – in fact, for Gina Perez and many others, it’s become an agonizing reality. After suffering second- and third-degree burns when her pressure cooker exploded in 2019, Perez was recently able to hold the device’s manufacturers accountable in court, securing a $55.5 million verdict with the help of personal injury lawyers at Burg Simpson. Perez’s life-altering injuries and defective product lawsuit victory show the importance of securing experienced, resourced Product Liability attorneys — like the ones at Colorado’s…
Superintendent Alex Marrero announced Friday that Denver Public Schools is eliminating 38 positions in the district’s central office to save about $5 million annually. The cuts include eight vacant positions and go into effect July 1, according to a letter sent to employees and families. DPS employs just under 3,000 employees in its central office. “We are facing great uncertainty compounded by significant concerns for our future funding from both the state and national levels,” Marrero wrote. “This all comes on top of a period of declining birth rates and lower enrollment across our city and the nation. These challenges…
MILWAUKEE — One of the Nuggets’ toughest back-to-backs of the season began with a game that slipped through their fingers — just not for the usual reasons.Denver dominated the paint, the glass and the break, but most of the team went cold in unison Thursday in a 121-112 loss to the Bucks. That’s why coach Michael Malone wasn’t too distressed by the result.“We really struggled to make shots, and we really struggled to finish tonight,” he said. “We easily could have had 70 or 80 in the paint. But we missed a bunch of bunnies, a bunch of easy ones.”The…

Linn Poston’s vision has always had its limits, but it was apparent from a young age that their climbing skills do not.Poston has albinism, which made them legally blind since birth. But their 20/200 vision hasn’t stopped Poston from emerging as a world-class paraclimber — starting with their early days on a garage wall in Lakewood.“When they were about five, I kept eliminating holds — I’d take a few off the wall, and then a few more — until, eventually, they were climbing up with virtually no holds,” recalled Linn’s dad, Scott Poston. “Every time I made it harder, they…
Lalas Abubakar’s legacy as a Colorado Rapids defender is epitomized by effort.Reggie Cannon, current Rapids outside back and former teammate of the Ghanaian, burst into laughter remembering his favorite Abubakar extra-ism after training on Thursday.“I’d definitely say the unique way he clears the ball, I’ll never forget it,” Cannon said. “Lalas does this double scissor kick in training. He’ll act like he’s doing a bicycle kick, but he’ll just launch the ball like 100 feet in the air because that’s just who he is. That’s his personality; he gives 200% in everything.”Most of the time, he did so with a…
When Astroscale U.S. was looking for a new building to move into, company executives weren’t necessarily looking for a sleek, high-tech look associated with many aerospace companies. But still, Ron Lopez, company president, was a little skeptical when architect Emily Adams started asking about Astroscale’s values and vision.“I thought, ‘Aren’t we supposed to be picking out colors? Aren’t we supposed to be cutting right to the chase,’ ” Lopez recalled.During a tour of Astroscale’s headquarters, a former train depot and foundry along the train tracks in south-central Denver, Lopez echoed employees’ comments that the time Adams and the other folks…
