By Ali Slagle, The New York TimesTo make fluffy, creamy, dreamy scrambled eggs for more than a few people, you don’t need a fancy pan or a newfangled hack. You don’t need boundless time or attention, either. You don’t even need the coffee to kick in yet — in fact, you’ll be rewarded for moving slowly. You just need 24 eggs, one pot and this easy method.Whether you’re scrambling just a few eggs or making a big batch, the difference between chalky, dry, rubbery eggs and ones you actually want to eat is in the details. This recipe and the tips…
There was a lot of pitiful grousing this week on social media about the law requiring commercial poultry farms keep hens cage-free in order to sell eggs in our state. The main argument went something like this: A scandalous abuse of government power is driving egg prices to shocking levels.Shelves emptied as people tried desperately to beat the anticipated New Year hike as the law took full effect.Online, people argued that there’s nothing wrong with cramming hens into small cages to keep prices a little cheaper. Cage-free is no poultry paradise anyway, folks said. This is just another way Governor…
Dear Eric: My husband has told our kids they cannot have any friends inside of our home. They can play in the front yard and that is it. I don’t know how to tackle this, or what to say when it’s our “turn” to host our kids’ friends. I’ve been hosting the friends to movies, arcades, etc., but never in our home.My husband is retired and seems to prefer always being home and away from others. I accepted this when we married because he is fine with me going and being around people, if needed. We didn’t have children until we’d…

Bo Nix and Troy Franklin haven’t been on the same page throughout their rookie season. But with a playoff berth hanging in the balance against the Bengals, the rookie quarterback didn’t hesitate to throw to his college teammate.Facing a crucial third-and-6 on the Broncos’ first drive of overtime, Nix saw Franklin race upfield away from cornerback Marco Wilson and uncorked a deep throw in his direction. But the pass sailed over Franklin’s outstretched arms and Denver was forced to punt.A play that could’ve changed the outcome of the Broncos’ 30-24 loss was off by inches — a normal occurrence in…
The Environmental Protection Agency is ordering Colorado to rethink a Suncor Energy air pollution permit for the third time in two years, leading environmentalists to question whether state regulators are serious about enforcing federal air quality laws at the Commerce City refinery. This time, the EPA’s order concerns the refinery’s Title V permit for its Plants 1 & 3, which refine crude oil into gasoline and other fuels and asphalt. This order comes on the heels of the EPA twice kicking back the Title V permit for Suncor’s Plant 2 after environmental groups raised objections to some measures within the permit.…
