A 6-year-old brewery in Greenwood Village is getting new owners. Jake Minturn and Doug Hyndman, owners of Downhill Brewing in Parker, are acquiring Peak View Brewery at 9672 E. Arapahoe Road, public records show. According to a liquor license application submitted to Greenwood Village, which BusinessDen obtained in a records request, Downhill is purchasing the brewery for $410,000. By DAVID SHARP and NICHOLAS RICCARDI (Associated Press) PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A Maine judge on Wednesday put on hold a decision on former President Donald Trump’s ballot status to allow time for the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on a similar case in Colorado. Trump’s lawyers appealed in state court when Secretary of State Shenna Bellows removed the Republican front-runner from the presidential primary ballot but then asked the judge to pause proceedings to allow the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on the Colorado case, which could render the lawsuit moot. Superior Court Judge Michaela Murphy concluded she lacked…

Douglas County this week sued a state board in charge of evaluating property assessments, claiming officials overstepped their authority and wrongfully stopped the county from providing substantial tax relief to thousands of homeowners. Last month’s board decision and the appeal to a judge to step in come amid a fierce statewide debate over how to blunt the impact of ballooning property tax bills across Colorado this year. The affluent suburban county filed its lawsuit against the state Board of Equalization late Tuesday in Denver District Court, characterizing its unanimous decision to deny Douglas County’s proposed $4 billion reduction in residential…

Bram Sable-Smith | (TNS) KFF Health News When Phyllisa Deroze was told she had diabetes in a Fayetteville, North Carolina, emergency department years ago, she was handed pamphlets with information on two types of the disease. One had pictures of children on it, she recalled, while the other had pictures of seniors. Deroze, a 31-year-old English professor at the time, was confused about which images were meant to depict her. Initially, she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, as shown on the pamphlet with older adults. It would be eight years before she learned she had a different form of…

By GENE JOHNSON (Associated Press) SEATTLE (AP) — Three Washington state police officers who were cleared of criminal charges in the 2020 death of Manuel Ellis — a Black man who was shocked, beaten and restrained facedown on a sidewalk as he pleaded for breath — will each receive $500,000 to leave the Tacoma Police Department, according to documents released Tuesday. “This says to the public that these are excellent officers, and it’s a shame Tacoma is losing them,” said Anne Bremner, an attorney for one of the officers, Timothy Rankine. A jury acquitted Rankine, 34, and co-defendants Matthew Collins,…

FORT COLLINS — The Mountain West is shaping up to be a gauntlet of angry polar bears carrying rusty chainsaws. So when a bad loss bared a rank, beastly smile of yellowed teeth, flexed its scaly muscles and shot the CSU Rams a steely glare, thank goodness it also forgot the golden rule of Moby Arena: Don’t ever get into a staring contest with Isaiah Stevens at home. Ever. Ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. “(I’d said), ‘Listen, guys, you’re gonna be in close games all year,’” Coach Niko Medved reflected after his Rammies (14-3, 2-2 MW) escaped one of those…

A few days after the Broncos’ 19-8 road loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in October, head coach Sean Payton stepped into owner and CEO Greg Penner’s office, hoping to present a glimmer of hope. At the time, Penner was struggling to sleep, haunted by the thought that the Broncos’ season might already be a bust after they dropped to 1-5. Payton thought differently. “Sean had the Detroit Lions’ schedule and said, ‘You know what? I think we can be this year’s Detroit Lions and bounce back from this,’” Penner recalled at last week’s news conference. Last year, the Lions…
