The 2025 Rockies’ motto: Too little, too late, too bad. As has become their custom during this historically awful season, the Rockies made some late-inning noise Thursday afternoon at Coors Field, scoring four runs in the ninth. A solo homer by Blaine Crim, an RBI double by Ryan Ritter, and a two-run homer by Mickey Moniak powered the surge. Moniak has hit a home run in four consecutive games, the first Rockies player to do that since Ryan McMahon, from May 26-29, 2023. But all of that wasn’t enough to stave off loss No. 112 in front of an announced…

Darren Rizzi sensed trouble just before the fateful snap against Indianapolis. The Broncos, though, could not reset. The closing seconds of Sunday’s walk-off loss to the Colts are well-covered by this point. The 60-yard Spencer Shrader field goal attempt that went begging short and right. The leverage penalty on Dondrea Tillman that gave Shrader another chance. The 45-yarder sailing through the uprights and dropping Denver to 1-1 moments after the team thought it had started the season with two wins. Rizzi on Thursday acknowledged that Tillman erred when he, just before the snap, switched places with interior defensive lineman Eyioma…

At least two workers were arrested this week in a federal immigration operation that targeted a Mexican restaurant in Frisco and sparked protests in the mountain community. The workers were detained after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrived at the Hacienda Real restaurant Tuesday, immigrant-rights advocates said. The operation also targeted a home in nearby Dillon Valley. Agents’ clothing identified them as part of ICE’s investigative arm, Homeland Security Investigations, and they removed computer equipment from the restaurant. In a Facebook post, Hacienda Real said it had been working with ICE “for several months” after the agency received an…

A hint of a smile crept across Vance Joseph’s face, a longtime NFL defensive mind offering the highest possible kudos to the threat at quarterback the Broncos will face in Los Angeles on Sunday. Everything, in simple terms, is working for Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert right now. There’s the arm: third-highest quarterback rating in the league through two weeks on intermediate throws. There’s the processing: most passing yards in the NFL on play-action throws. And there’s the sneaky legs: 63 yards on 16 carries thus far. “He’s a special athlete,” Broncos defensive coordinator Joseph said Thursday. “He’s playing at a…

By DAVID BAUDER, AP Media Writer NEW YORK (AP) — Jimmy Kimmel’s television future hung in the balance Thursday after ABC suspended his late-night show following the host’s comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, leaving the network’s parent company to decide whether supporting him is worth the risk to its business. Two other companies that operate dozens of ABC stations came out against Kimmel, and they are being cheered on by a Trump administration regulator who can make life difficult for ABC’s owner, the Walt Disney Co. But advocates for free speech say it’s time for the company — anyone, really — to…

By SEUNG MIN KIM, Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said early Thursday that he plans to designate antifa as a “major terrorist organization.” Antifa, short for “anti-fascists,” is an umbrella term for far-left-leaning militant groups and is not a singular entity. They consist of groups that resist fascists and neo-Nazis, especially at demonstrations. It’s unclear how the administration would label what is effectively a decentralized movement as a terrorist organization, and the White House on Wednesday did not immediately offer more details. Trump, who is on a state visit to the United Kingdom, made the announcement in…

Maple syrup is a sweetener made from the sap of maple trees, primarily sugar maples, by boiling the sap to concentrate the sugar. According to the “Encyclopedia of Food and Drink in America,” Native Americans are generally thought to have been the first to tap maple trees and to turn the sap into syrup. The sap is less than 3% sugar; 32 to 40 gallons of sap boil down to just one gallon of syrup. Maple syrup tastes sweet with a distinct, rich flavor accented with a blend of caramel, vanilla, with a hint of woodiness. Don’t think of it…
