A car drove through an Aurora home and hit a gas meter Friday night, causing a natural gas leak, police said.

Aurora Fire Rescue crews were on the scene of a natural gas leak near East Iliff Avenue and South Blackhawk Street around 9:30 p.m. Friday, according to a post from the fire department on X.

Crews from Aurora Fire Rescue’s Hazmat and Technical Rescue Team responded to the area after a car drove through an Aurora home, the fire department stated in the post.

The Hazmat crew secured the leak while the Technical Rescue Team worked to shore up damage to the home from the crash, according to the post.

At 11:02 p.m., the fire department announced on X that the gas leak had been secured.

The Aurora Police Department is investigating the crash.

No one was injured in the crash, but information about the driver or damage to the home was not available.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
