    Class 5A

    Team Record Previous Last week
    1. Cherry Creek 7-0 1 W (56-0 at Arapahoe)
Comment: Bruins have been held under 40 points just once this season. And that was after flight to Florida. This week: vs. Eaglecrest, 7 p.m. Thursday.
    2. Ralston Valley 7-0 2 W (47-7 at Denver South)
Comment: Mustangs head coach Jared Yannacito is 3-1 against Columbine since taking over at Ralston Valley. This week: vs. Columbine, 7 p.m. Thursday.
    3. Mountain Vista 7-0 3 W (40-0 at ThunderRidge)

    4. Arvada West 7-0 4 W (20-17 vs. Columbine)
Comment: Wildcats survived Rebels’ upset bid. Just two more hurdles left before end-of-season showdown at Ralston Valley. This week: vs. Denver East, 7 p.m. Friday.
    5. Legend 6-1 5 W (50-7 at Chaparral)
Comment: Few better tests of defense’s toughness than facing Fountain-Fort Carson’s ground and pound. This week: vs. No. 9 Fountain-Fort Carson, 7 p.m. Thursday.
    6. Valor Christian 5-2 6 W (55-0 at Castle View)
Comment: Senior Dawson Olk and sophomore Titus Huard still splitting snaps at QB. Who will be the guy in November? This week: vs. ThunderRidge, 7 p.m. Friday.
    7. Fairview 6-1 7 W (60-29 at Fort Collins)
Comment: Most impressive part of Knights’ rout of Lamkins? Holding Fort Collins to one TD over final two quarters. This week: vs. Brighton, 7 p.m. Friday.
    8. Erie 5-2 8 W (61-34 vs. Vista PEAK Prep)
Comment: Friday night’s visit from Mullen may very well decide 5A Front Range South League title. This week: vs. Mullen, 6:30 p.m. Friday.
    9. Fountain-Fort Carson 6-1 NR W (24-17 vs. Regis Jesuit)
Comment: Trojans have won six straight since Week 1 loss to Arvada West. This week: at No. 5 Legend, 7 p.m. Thursday.

    3. Palmer Ridge 7-0 3 W (21-7 vs. No. 5 Durango)
Comment: Bears defense allowed its first first-quarter TD of season last week. Of course, that’s all they allowed. This week: at No. 6 Vista Ridge, 7 p.m. Friday.
    4. Broomfield 6-1 4 W (74-0 vs. Adams City)
Comment: Until Eagles actually lose to 4A team, they remain as scary as anyone in classification. This week: at Grand Junction Central, 7 p.m. Friday.
    5. Durango 5-2 5 L (21-7 at No. 3 Palmer Ridge)

    9. Pueblo West 5-2 6 L (22-15 at Mesa Ridge)
Comment: Mesa Ridge was bound to knock off at least one giant on its rugged schedule. Cyclones turned out to be the first. This week: vs. Widefield, 7 p.m. Friday.

    3. Holy Family 5-1 3 W (67-0 vs. Littleton)
Comment: Even more impressive than Tigers’ 67 points last week. They needed only 20 offensive snaps to get there. This week: at Kennedy, 11 a.m. Saturday.
    4. Mead 5-1 5 W (21-10 vs. Timnath)
Comment: Mavericks get past Timnath unscathed. And that’s no small thing. This week: at Greeley Central, 11 a.m. Saturday.
    5. Roosevelt 3-3 4 L (23-15 at No. 2 Pomona)
Comment: Will Rough Riders’ brutal schedule set them up for success in November? Or will it take too much out of them? This week: vs. Fort Morgan, 7 p.m. Friday.
    6. Lutheran 4-2 6 W (48-0 at Standley Lake)
Comment: As it often seems to do, Lions’ season will turn on next week’s showdown with Holy Family. This week: vs. Hinkley, 7 p.m. Thursday.
    7. Thompson Valley 5-1 7 W (28-7 vs. Severance)

Comment: Bulldogs unbeaten against 3A competition this season after posting back-to-back shutout wins. This week: Bye
