    Snow continues to fall across Colorado on Tuesday and forecasters said that the metro area could see several more inches accumulate before the storm wraps up.

    Light to moderate snow will continue across the Interstate 25 Corridor, Denver area and Eastern Plains for several hours Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

    Forecasters said the snow is expected to weaken around 9 a.m. and dry out in the afternoon. Snow is forecast to end around noon in Denver and its surrounding suburbs, which is also when the Winter Weather Advisory expires.

    The advisory, which covers the Denver area, southern Front Range foothills, Castle Rock, Greeley, Byers and Limon, said the heaviest snow Tuesday will be during the morning commute.

    As of 5 a.m. Tuesday, 1 1/2 inches of snow had stacked up at the Denver International Airport and snow forecasts said another 2 to 5 inches was expected by 11 p.m.

    According to NWS snow forecasts, between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday, another:

    • 2 to 6 inches of snow is expected in downtown Denver, Arvada, Aurora, Brighton, Broomfield, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Northglenn and Parker;
    • 3 to 6 inches of snow is expected in Boulder, Castle Rock and Lakewood;
    • 1 inch of snow is expected in Vail and Breckenridge;
    • 1 to 4 inches of snow is expected in Colorado Springs;
    • 3 to 5 inches of snow is expected in southern Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, including Red Mountain Pass and Molas Pass, and in central Colorado’s Park Range Mountains;
    • 4 to 8 inches is expected in southern Colorado’s Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains, including Bushnell Peak and South Colony.

    Even after the snow wraps up, the cold will persist, NWS forecasters said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook.

    Nighttime temperature lows will drop Tuesday into the single digits across the Eastern Plains and metro area and below minus
    10 and minus 20 in the high mountain valleys, according to the outlook.

    Denver will see overnight lows near 6 degrees, but wind chill will make it feel like 2 degrees below zero, forecasters said.

    Forecasters said that high winds, light snow, and frigid temperatures will return to the plains and urban corridor on Thursday.
