Colorado has found some more defensive line depth from the SEC.
On Thursday, former Arkansas defensive tackle Taurean Carter announced that he has decided to play his final season of eligibility with the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders.
Meanwhile, the Buffs are losing defensive back Jahquez Robinson, who announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-3, 303-pound Carter had announced a commitment to SMU last week, but changed his mind and plans to play in Boulder.
Carter is the fifth defensive line/end transfer addition for the Buffs this offseason, including Carter, Anquin Barnes (Alabama) and Quency Wiggins (LSU) from the SEC. The Buffs have also added Chidozie Nwankwo (Houston) and Samuel Okunlola (Pittsburgh).
Carter spent the past five seasons at Arkansas and will have one more season to play. In his time with the Razorbacks, he played in 33 games (five starts), recording 60 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
After redshirting in 2019, he played in eight games in 2020, making 11 tackles. He had 24 tackles and three TFLs in 13 games during the 2021 season, but then injured his knee during the 2022 spring game and missed the entire 2022 season.
Healthy again this year, Carter played all 12 games for the Razorbacks, with four starts. He had 25 tackles, 3.5 TFLs and 1.5 sacks.
A three-star prospect coming out of Legacy (Texas) High School, he chose Arkansas over Florida, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and numerous others.
Robinson will be a graduate transfer with two seasons to play.
Last summer, Robinson came to CU after three years at Alabama. For the Buffs this past year, he played in eight games, with two starts at cornerback. He recorded nine tackles, one tackle for loss and an interception.
