A record-breaking amount of rain fell in the Denver area during Tuesday’s storm, according to the National Weather Service. The Denver area saw roughly 1.28 inches of rain on Tuesday, according to weather service data. That broke the Sept. 23 record for rainfall in Denver and is 32 times the typical amount of rain recorded in the city on that date, 0.04 inches, according to the weather service. The previous Sept. 23 rainfall record of 0.83 inches was set in 2017, meteorologists said in a record report. Denver normally receives an average of 1.02 inches of rain in September, according…
A man was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon near a Douglas County skate park after getting into an argument with another driver, police said. Parker police responded to a shots-fired call just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Twenty Mile Road and Longs Way, near Railbender Skate & Tennis Park, according to a news release from the department. Witnesses told police that two vehicles were stopped alongside each other and the drivers were involved in an unspecified “disagreement,” according to the release. That’s when multiple shots were fired and one driver left the scene. When Parker officers arrived, they found the second…
My mother thought that breakfast should be loaded with protein, and pancakes were no exception. Not only do these flapjacks have protein-rich cottage cheese, but they also contain 6 eggs in the batter. Initially, Mom tried to sneak in a little brewer’s yeast (a rich source of B vitamins) into the batter, an ingredient that made the mixture smell like sour socks. But my brothers and I complained so much that she eventually scrubbed the smelly stuff. Mom’s Cottage Cheese Pancakes Yield: About 30 (3 1/2-inch) pancakes INGREDIENTS 1 cup cottage cheese 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 6…
One of my favorite photos of my daughter as a toddler shows her falling over pumpkins at a preschool fall festival on University Boulevard, hay bales and scarecrows in the background. As you can see from the glorious photo taken by The Post’s R.J. Sangosti, above, in 2010, it’s a great time of year to use fall in Colorado as a prop. Here are a bunch of places around Colorado to take your kids (or kids-at-heart). No posing necessary; just let ’em have at it and snap away. — Barbara Ellis A quick note: We did our best to include as…

By JOSHUA GOODMAN and RYAN J. FOLEY MIAMI (AP) — Hundreds of federal employees who lost their jobs in Elon Musk’s cost-cutting blitz are being asked to return to work. The General Services Administration has given the employees — who managed government workspaces — until the end of the week to accept or decline reinstatement, according to an internal memo obtained by The Associated Press. Those who accept must report for duty on Oct. 6 after what amounts to a seven-month paid vacation, during which time the GSA in some cases racked up high costs — passed along to taxpayers…
Colorado picked up a victory on the recruiting trail on Tuesday. Blue chip defensive tackle Emanuel Ruffin verbally committed to the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders for the 2026 class. Rated by 247Sports.com as a four-star recruit, the 6-foot-4, 290-pounder from Bessemer City (Ala.) High School took an official visit to CU this past weekend, watching the Buffs roll past Wyoming, 37-20. Ruffin is rated by 247Sports as the No. 9 overall prospect in Alabama and the No. 19 defensive line prospect in the country. In June, Ruffin took visits to blueblood programs Alabama, LSU and Ohio State. Those…
Trump’s ‘tough it out’ advice to expectant moms is the latest example of men opining on women’s pain
By LAURIE KELLMAN From the pulpit of the presidency, Donald Trump offered some advice to pregnant women: “Tough it out” before taking Tylenol. Nine times in all, Trump said expectant mothers should suffer through their discomfort instead of reaching for acetaminophen — or paracetamol in countries outside the U.S. — to cure their fevers or headaches, despite the drug being one of the few painkillers that pregnant women are allowed to take. “Fight like hell not to take it,” Trump instructed at a Monday news conference meant to address autism. He added that if pregnant women absolutely have to take…
Denver Post Broncos beat reporters Parker Gabriel and Luca Evans break down Denver’s second straight walk-off loss, a 23-20 crusher at the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. What should be made of the way quarterback Bo Nix played? How much does head coach Sean Payton need to think about adjusting offensively? And Denver’s pass-rush is back in full gear, but the defense still has its own issues to iron out. Back-to-back last-second losses are obviously tough for players and coaches to swallow, but do they say more about the problems Denver has or more about the possibilities going forward? All…
