Deion Sanders is back in Boulder and ready to roll for his third season leading the Colorado Buffaloes’ football program. Following an eventful offseason, which included dealing with some health issues that kept him at his estate in Canton, Texas, all summer, Sanders will open preseason camp with the Buffs on Monday morning. Sanders returned to Boulder on Friday, the players report Sunday, and Monday the Buffs will hit the field. Sanders is also scheduled to conduct a news conference with his medical team Monday, and there’s no question the top story surrounding the Buffs at the start of camp…

A key young piece of the Broncos’ defense may have suffered another tough setback. Toward the end of Denver’s second full day of training camp Saturday morning, third-year linebacker Drew Sanders was seen carted off the field with an apparent injury. Two staffers helped him into the locker room, as Sanders slung both arms over their shoulders, clearly unable to put much weight on his leg. The origin of Sanders’ injury wasn’t seen. A serious injury would mark another grueling chapter in Sanders’ tenure with the Broncos, and weaken an already injury-laden linebacker room. A former standout at Arkansas and…

Dear Eric: I have two sons in their early 30s. Recently, my older son became engaged to a wonderful woman the same age, who I love as a daughter. While our relationships are good, I have found that my desire for close family bonds has gotten stronger as I get older, especially in the past several years when I’ve been living several hours’ travel away from my blood family. I really want to keep an active interchange going with all three. At the same time, I don’t want to seem like Mama hanging over them. How do I figure out…

In Denver, sportsmanship might’ve just reached a new Summit. Now, the wise apples over in the Grading The Week (GTW) offices will readily confess our sins because 1.) There are so darn many, we’ve lost count; and 2.) It’s good for the soul. And Team GTW has got to admit: Before last Tuesday, we’d never really heard of the Colorado Summit. And, because of what is believed to be an act of sporting/community altruism … we won’t be hearing that name for very much longer. OK, OK, OK, here’s the juice. You know that sweet Denver Summit FC logo that…

To compete in the new world of college athletics, the University of Northern Colorado will need creativity, strategy and the involvement of the local community, athletic director Darren Dunn said this month. In early June, the chaotic college sports landscape changed again. A federal judge in California finalized the settlement of a 5-year-old antitrust lawsuit between six former Division I student-athletes and the NCAA — allowing schools to begin directly paying athletes as of July 1. Over the past four years, Division I college athletes had been permitted to earn money through sponsorships, endorsements, social media and other business arrangements…

By DAVID BAUDER With this week’s FCC approval, the merger between Paramount Global and Skydance Media is expected to be completed in the coming weeks at a value of $8 billion. The question for the new company is whether the psychic cost is much higher. It has been a particularly rough few months at Paramount-owned CBS, where the settlement of a lawsuit regarding “60 Minutes” and announced end of Stephen Colbert’s late-night show has led critics to suggest corporate leaders were bowing to President Donald Trump. Following the Federal Communications Commission approval Thursday, one of the triumvirate of current Paramount…
