Break up the Rockies. They rallied to beat the Giants 4-3 at Oracle Park Thursday night, sending the baseball universe into a tizzy. It marked the first time the Rockies won back-to-back games this season and ended their 13-game road losing streak. They won for the first time in San Francisco since July 7, 2023 — a losing skid of 12 consecutive games. Rookie right-hander Zach Agnos, installed as the closer in Colorado’s 2-1 win over Atlanta on Wednesday, delivered his second save. He methodically set the Giants down in order in the ninth.  Rallies have been tough to come…

By NICHOLAS RICCARDI, Associated Press A federal judge on Thursday barred the Trump administration from deporting any Venezuelans from South Texas under an 18th-century wartime law and said President Donald Trump’s invocation of it was “unlawful.” U.S. District Court Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr. is the first judge to rule that the Alien Enemies Act cannot be used against people who, the Republican administration claims, are gang members invading the United States. “Neither the Court nor the parties question that the Executive Branch can direct the detention and removal of aliens who engage in criminal activity in the United States,” wrote Rodriguez, who was nominated…

Federal lawyers urged a U.S. District Court judge in Colorado to reject Jeanette Vizguerra’s challenge of her detention in a new filing this week, arguing that she hasn’t sufficiently shown the government was retaliating against her activism when authorities arrested her. The well-known immigrant-rights advocate was in the country without proper legal status, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were following a reinstated removal order, U.S. Justice Department attorneys wrote in the Tuesday filing. It responded to arguments by Vizguerra’s legal team in recent weeks that the government’s arrest of Vizguerra in March violated her First Amendment rights. The federal…

By Emily Weinstein, The New York Times Like a lot of people around the world, I love pad thai, with its intricate and craveable combination of flavors and textures. But it’s because I love pad thai that I stopped ordering it for delivery a long time ago. The stir-fried noodles were always gloopy and globbed when they arrived at my door. The flavors had dulled, and the contrasting textures that make the dish so delicious in restaurants had all slumped together. Like tacos, pad thai is one of those foods that’s meant to be eaten the moment it’s assembled. Every…
