By Genevieve Ko, The New York Times There’s the fantasy of summer snacking — savoring wild berries and a hunk of freshly baked sourdough, maybe on a rocky outlook or sandy dune — and then there’s the reality of tearing open a store-bought snack bar and shoving it down for sustenance on a hike or after a swim. The flavor’s rarely interesting enough to register beyond sweet, and the texture, often chewy the way you’d imagine melted plastic would be, rarely brings to mind real food. Just because snack bars are undeniably convenient doesn’t mean they can’t satisfy like a…

Denver Post Broncos writer Parker Gabriel posts his Broncos Mailbag weekly during the season and periodically during the offseason. Click here to submit a question. Hey Parker, with Courtland Sutton set as our No. 1 receiver, who’s our No. 2 guy? Marvin Mims Jr. seems to be the slot/joker weapon for us. Can Devaughn Vele make the next step? Or Troy Franklin? Or Pat Bryant? — Mark, Arvada Hey Mark, thanks for writing in and getting us going this week. It’s a really good question and one that to me is probably the single most interesting offensive storyline — maybe…

By JULIA FRANKEL JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel’s defense minister has outlined plans to pack hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into a closed zone of the Gaza Strip along the border with Egypt, according to local media reports. It appears to be the latest version of plans by the Israeli government to maintain lasting control over the territory and relocate much of its population of some 2 million. Critics say that would amount to forcible displacement in violation of international law because Israel’s offensive and blockade have made Gaza largely uninhabitable. Israeli officials say the aim is to separate the civilian…

By Yewande Komolafe, The New York Times I believe the first bite into a perfectly ripe mango has three parts: first, a humbling, then a flood of nostalgia and, finally, a restoration of spirit. This is the power of a great mango. They knock us off our pedestals. No matter how nimble an eater you may be, there’s a mango out there waiting to defy your hands and lips. Forego all politeness. A sticky mess awaits. When I bite into one, I compare that initial sweetness to the tart and acidic flavors that build as I get closer to the…

An investor in a shuttered RiNo winery says he’s just going after what’s his — and that its former landlord’s position is just sour grapes. Monty Cleworth, a longtime executive at investment consulting firm Monticello Associates, owned about 25% of Infinite Monkey Theorem, the winery that closed at the end of 2024. In February, he said, he acquired its assets in exchange for paying off a $900,000 loan. The assets include inventory, a canning line and rights to the brand, which he claims are collectively worth $428,000. But several months later, Cleworth says his newly acquired possessions are being held hostage by…

As aggressive as the Nuggets have been with roster changes this offseason, one of their most intriguing and mysterious additions will be someone who was already on the team. DaRon Holmes II won’t have any injury-related limitations on his minutes when he returns from a torn right Achilles tendon this week, Nuggets Summer League coach Andrew Munson said. Holmes is Denver’s most anticipated aspect of the Summer League squad. He was drafted 22nd overall last year with a pick that cost the Nuggets three future second-rounders. His combination of size, defensive versatility and perimeter shooting was too tantalizing for former general…
