Hundreds of flights were delayed at Denver International Airport on Wednesday afternoon after thunderstorms caused transportation officials to ground all departures for more than an hour. The Federal Aviation Administration issued the ground stop at DIA from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. as the threat of apple-sized hail and tornadoes loomed over part of the Front Range and Eastern Plains. Flights are delayed by an average of 71 minutes, according to the FAA. There were 683 delays and three canceled flights at DIA as of 7:50 p.m., according to the flight tracking website FlightAware. President Donald Trump has commuted the federal life sentence for infamous Chicago-born Gangster Disciples founder Larry Hoover, abruptly ending Hoover’s yearslong quest to win early release under the First Step Act passed during Trump’s first term. The two-page order said Hoover’s sentence was considered served “with no further fines, restitution, probation or other conditions,” and directed the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to release him “immediately,” according to a copy of the document provided by Hoover’s legal team. The controversial move — part of a slew of clemency actions announced by the White House this week — appeared to have already…

COMMERCE CITY — Von Miller is committed to playing in the NFL this fall. He’s quite sure it won’t be with the Broncos. The former Denver great most recently spent three seasons in Buffalo that ended with his release this winter. Miller, 36, doesn’t know where he’s going to play in 2025, but he predicted Wednesday that it wouldn’t be in the city where he spent the first nine years of his career. “If you look at this year, it really doesn’t make sense,” Miller said at a vision clinic here where he was hosting a Von’s Vision event. “They’ve…
Jamal Murray needs a straight shooter. A coach who’ll tell him to show up in shape. Who’ll remind him to make the NBA, not the UFC, the three letters that matter most from October through June? A coach who’ll bring up the award snubs. Who’ll do a Google search and show the Blue Arrow just how many writers have lamented the fact that Nikola Jokic has yet to play with another All-Star in Denver. A coach who’ll read him, aloud, Jokic’s stats from ’24-25, that full-season triple-double. Who’ll then ask Maple Curry, the way we’ve all been asking for a…
Track your grocery prices at checkout Re: “‘Secret shoppers’ challenge pricing,” May 16 news story Even in ancient Rome, the advice to shoppers was caveat emptor (let the buyer beware). It does not matter whether the overcharging of customers at King Soopers is the result of understaffing — which does not allow the store to post accurate prices — or a deliberate policy to try to increase profits; the result is the same. Just as it was 2,000 years ago, it is up to the customer to make sure that they are receiving the advertised price. When shopping at King…
What are the best one-piece swimsuits? If you’re looking for versatile swimwear that’s just as well-suited to a day at the beach as laps in the pool, you might be considering a one-piece swimsuit. Many people feel more comfortable in a one-piece than in bathing suits that show off more skin, plus they look relaxed and timeless. What to consider when buying women’s one-piece swimsuits Style A classic one-piece swimsuit with a tank-style top and a bikini cut bottom is known as a maillot, though this term is rarely used. The maillot is the most common style of one-piece swimsuit,…

The Rockies have lost 83.6% of their games, but their walk-off loss on Tuesday night was extra painful. The Rockies played one of their more solid games of a rickety season, got an excellent start from German Marquez, and four stellar innings from their bullpen. But they fell, 4-3, to the Cubs in 11 innings at chilly Wrigley Field and extended the worst start in MLB’s modern era to 9-46. By losing the first two games of the series, the Rockies lost the three-game series. According to OptaSTATS, the Rockies have now lost 21 consecutive series dating back to last…
