Maybe it was the new, sunset-inspired City Connect uniforms. More likely, it was the shutdown start by Antonio Senzatela, a salty bullpen, excellent defense and some timely hits that finally stopped the Rockies’ avalanche of losses. Whatever. The Rockies will take it. They beat the Nationals 3-1 in the second game of a split doubleheader at Coors Field Sunday night to end an eight-game losing streak. The Nationals took the first game, 3-2. “We have been playing good baseball the last four games, and we were just missing the key hit, so this feels good tonight,” said center fielder Mickey…

Gut check: How have you been over the past month? When my last column was published a scant four weeks ago, markets were knocking on the door of all-time highs, and the overall feeling was one of cautious optimism. A lot can change in four weeks. I’m writing this article a week before its publication. Even more will likely shift in those seven days. Steve Booren (handout) You’re likely already aware of the most recent investment news. I won’t reiterate the actions and reactions or argue for or against the politics and policies influencing market movements. If you want to…
After a stirring Game 1 between the Nuggets and Clippers, here are three trends to watch Monday in Game 2 and for the remainder of the first-round series. Aaron Gordon’s versatility: One pretty significant aspect of Denver’s dismal pick-and-roll defense in the first quarter was the unproductive space occupied by Nikola Jokic, who probably needed to be more aggressive at the level of the screen. Instead, James Harden often had an easy pass to the short-rolling Ivica Zubac, and the Nuggets found themselves stuck in 3-on-4, as they have all too often this season. Eventually, they adjusted with some cross-matching.…

Kris Bryant can’t play baseball right now, and he’s unsure when he’ll be able to play again. But he’s not ready to give up the game. Bryant, 33, talked at length on Sunday about his chronic back condition and the physical and emotional effects it’s had on him. But the Rockies’ highest-paid player said he is not considering retiring. “I want to be on the field. I want to play the game,” Bryant said while standing at his locker in the Rockies clubhouse at Coors Field. “I want to talk to doctors, see if there’s anything else we can do.…
Two people were killed Saturday night in a crash near Denver’s Empower Field, police said. The Denver Police Department first posted about the crash on social media at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Officials originally said two people riding an electric scooter near Federal Boulevard and 14th Avenue were killed in the crash, but later said the victims were pedestrians walking in the area, according to the post. The crash, which happened less than half a mile southwest of Empower Field at Mile High and just north of Lakewood Gulch, shut down Federal Boulevard between 14th Avenue and West Holden Place for…
The 2025 Rockies have no margin for error. Or errors. The Nationals edged Colorado, 3-2, in the first game of Sunday’s split doubleheader at Coors Field. Two critical throwing errors by rookie catcher Braxton Fulford in the second inning turned out to be the difference. “Braxton has one of our strongest arms, and he’s probably our best thrower (among catchers) in the organization,” manager Bud Black said. “I’m not in his body, but younger players put a lot of pressure on themselves. And we are seeing it firsthand with a lot of our young guys. … That might have something…
