While the body has not been identified, Larimer County investigators believe it’s related to the case of missing Fort Collins resident…
When BYU’s first season in the Big 12 didn’t go well, the expectations going into year two were low. BYU wound up as one of the biggest surprise teams in the Big 12 and the country last year. The Cougars won’t sneak up on anybody this year, though. This summer, BuffZone will preview each of Colorado’s opponents for the 2025 season and in this installment we look at BYU, which will visit Folsom Field on Sept. 27 in a rematch of last season’s Alamo Bowl. Projected 13th in the Big 12 going into last year, BYU started 9-0, vaulting to…
Dear Eric: My sister-in-law made quilts for two of her nieces. They unwrapped them to oohs, aahs and applause on Christmas Eve at my house. My daughter did not receive a gift. I sent a polite email to sister-in-law explaining that my daughter was disappointed. I received a snail mail reply that included a gift certificate and a note. Sister-in-law wrote that I was a bully and stated that she would never set foot in my house again. She hasn’t for several years. What should I do? – Stitchy Situation Dear Situation: Your sister-in-law’s reaction was a bit extreme, all…
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two-way college star and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, the second overall pick in April’s NFL draft, signed a four-year, $46.6 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The deal includes a $30.5 million signing bonus. Hunter had been one of three unsigned first-round picks, including Cincinnati edge rusher Shemar Stewart (17th overall) and Denver cornerback Jahdae Barron (20th). Under the NFL’s slotting system, Hunter is expected to get $840,000 in base salary as a rookie, with his contract rising to $2.96 million in Year 2, $5.08 million in his third season and $7.20 million…
We are thrilled by rumors that the Broncos’ new owners are acquiring land to keep the football team in the heart of Denver, right where it belongs. A brand new, privately financed stadium on currently contaminated and abandoned land, Burnham Yard, is a vision we can get behind. The 58-acre rail yard is now owned by the Colorado Department of Transportation. The Denver Post reported last week – following some brilliant reporting from BusinessDen – that part of the deal the Walton-Penner group is looking to make in addition to acquiring the state’s land would include buying a portion of…
By JOSH BOAK and MIKE PESOLI WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Sunday called into question the future of Iran’s ruling theocracy after a surprise attack on three of the country’s nuclear sites, seemingly contradicting his administration’s earlier calls to resume negotiations and avoid an escalation in fighting. “It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change???” Trump posted on social media. “MIGA!!!” The posting on Truth Social marked something of a reversal from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s…
GREELEY — Charlie Monfort sat down for breakfast at Roasty’s Diner, one of his favorite local eateries in his beloved hometown. Wearing a National Baseball Hall of Fame cap and a Utah Utes T-shirt in honor of his alma mater, the 65-year-old Monfort appeared relaxed. He laughed often and easily. He said that the problems with alcohol that derailed his active role as one of the Rockies’ founders and principal owners are in the past. He’s repaired his relationship with Dick Monfort, his older brother and the club’s owner, chairman, CEO, and ultimate decision-maker. But there is irony here. For…
Denver officers are searching for a driver who struck a pedestrian and fled the scene earlier this month, according to the police department. The hit-and-run happened in the early morning hours of Friday, June 13, near North Federal Boulevard and West 6th Avenue, according to the Denver Police Department. That intersection is on the cusp of four Denver neighborhoods: Barnum, Valverde, Villa Park and Lincoln Park. Police said the pedestrian, who was not publicly identified, was seriously injured in the crash. The unidentified driver was headed southbound on Federal in a white Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 when the crash happened, police…
Colorado universities are bracing for major disruptions to their international student populations this fall in light of federal hostility toward foreign-born students and rapidly shifting immigration policies from the Trump administration. More than 10,360 international students attended colleges and universities in the Centennial State during the 2023-2024 school year, according to the most recent data available from the Colorado Department of Higher Education. International students contribute more than $400 million to the state’s economy and support more than 3,800 jobs, making education Colorado’s sixth-largest export, the agency said. Policy decisions since President Donald Trump returned to office in January —…
The Houston Rockets are acquiring 15-time All-Star and four-time Olympic gold medalist Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal struck Sunday, a person with knowledge of the agreement told The Associated Press. The Rockets are giving up Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green and six future picks — including the No. 10 selection in Wednesday’s opening round of this year’s draft — according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal was still pending NBA approval. It ends weeks of speculation about where Durant would end up. Many teams were involved at…
