Jarrett Stidham’s heroics as the Auburn starting quarterback in 2017 plays through Chip Lindsey’s mind as if it happened yesterday. In three weeks, Lindsey — Auburn’s former offensive coordinator — watched Stidham perform what could be considered the unthinkable. First, he threw for three touchdowns in a 40-17 drubbing of top-ranked Georgia. Two weeks later, with Alabama then No. 1 in the country, Stidham rushed 16 yards for a touchdown to solidify the Tigers’ 26-14 upset over the Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl. “He pulled a run on a zone read and ran through a couple of tackles and…
The Broncos on Friday ruled out wide receiver Courtland Sutton and outside linebacker Baron Browning for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Both are working their way through the league’s concussion protocol. Sutton was injured in the first quarter Christmas Eve against New England and Browning later in the game. Denver also ruled out tight end Greg Dulcich (hamstring/foot) and offensive lineman Alex Palczewski (knee) from returning from injured reserve this weekend. Denver has an illness going around the team, head coach Sean Payton said, that left receiver Jerry Jeudy and running back Dwyane Washington questionable. Safety Justin Simmons…
FORT COLLINS — Beginning Tuesday, the games will be more significant for the No. 15 Colorado State men’s basketball team. Friday night’s game against Adams State at Moby Arena was all about fine-tuning ahead of the Rams’ Mountain West Conference opener against New Mexico. CSU had little trouble against the Division-II Grizzlies, rolling to a 106-61 victory to close out one of the program’s most successful nonconference slates in recent history. With the win, the Rams improved to 12-1, defeating their fifth in-state foe this season as part of that mark. The Grizzlies suffered the same fate as Northern Colorado,…
Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is unsure what the future holds for him after getting benched this week. But he told reporters on Friday afternoon that he hopes he remains in the Mile High City. “I hope that it’s here for a long time. I hope to win more (trophies) in the front hall (at Centura Health Training Center) and get some more championships. If it’s not here, then I’m prepared to do that somewhere else,” Wilson said. “But I hope that it’s here, and I genuinely mean that. … I brought my family here.” Wilson said he was surprised and…
Raphael Fonseca joined the Denver Art Museum in 2021 as its first-ever curator of Latin American Modern & Contemporary Art, a position created to showcase, and grow, the museum’s considerable collection of objects from the region. His most notable move here — so far — was curating last year’s “Who Tells a Tale Adds a Tail,” a group show built around the talents of 19 millennial-aged artists from places like Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia and Brazil. Raphael Fonseca is the first person to hold the title of Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Denver Art Museum. (Provided…
A 26-year-old man is facing murder and attempted murder charges after a weekend fatal shooting in the parking lot of Top Golf in Thornton. Police on Saturday arrested Victor Salazar-Guarache after the shooting that happened about 12:50 a.m. Saturday in the 16000 block of Grant Street in the Top Golf parking lot. Bryce Holden, 22, died in the shooting that started after a “disturbance” between the business’s employees, and the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in a Friday news release announced they have charged Salazar-Guarache with first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree attempted murder, as well as a violent…
Russell Wilson avoided a twisting Texans rusher and bolted up the field. He could have thrown in rhythm to tight end Lucas Krull for a first down and a stroll out of bounds, too, but why? Wilson’s legs served just fine. He dove forward to the Houston 8-yard line on a fourth-and-2, popped up and took a timeout with 23 seconds left in the game, generating a first down and four snaps worth of hope that the Broncos were about to find a way to pull off their sixth straight win. The early December CBS broadcast replayed the reaction from…

Rep. Lauren Boebert’s decision to cut and run for Congress on the other side of Colorado is a gross political attempt to retain office at all costs. By electing to run in eastern Colorado’s Congressional District 4, instead of western Colorado’s District 3, Boebert dodges both a tough primary from Jeff Hurd and a brutal general election against Adam Frisch. Frisch, a Democrat, fell short by only about 600 votes two years ago and since then Boebert has accomplished little for her district except embarrassing her constituents with lewd and rude behavior at the Buell theater in Denver. Facing such…
By Claire Saffitz, The New York Times I have a burning desire to visit Sicily, which has a little to do with “The White Lotus” and a lot to do with a tube-shaped pastry made of fried dough and filled with ricotta: cannoli. Last year, I came across a video of Nicola and Luca Petta, father-son bakers who own Extrabar, a pastry shop in Piana degli Albanesi, preparing their specialty, cannoli. In the video, Luca mixes and rolls the dough, punches out the shells, and fries them until they’re golden and blistered. The shells flare outward dramatically at the ends,…
